Facebook just launched their prediction market app, Forecast, allowing users to trade in prediction markets about world, political, economic, and health related markets. Forecast uses a valueless currency for trading, they call “points”.
Facebook believes this application can lead to more accurate representations and forecasts of real world events by combing wisdom of the crowd data aggregation with a community distribution effect.
